Yusuke FUKUI (1971)
Lives and works in Tokyo and Budapest.
Fukui Yusuke's has been working on his "SUMI-E" series since 1998, which he also interprets as his own visual diary.
To date, the body of work includes thousands of works, which are linked in a chain and display a wide variety of abstract painting approaches on the artist's special papers, originally developed for pastel drawings.
The series, which began around the turn of the second millennium, served as a way for the young artist to find alternative ways to develop his oeuvre to the classical oil on canvas technique after his university years. Fukui's "diary" is made up of a series of smaller and larger series, each one unique and unrepeatable.
The fascinating cross-section of SUMI-E (Japanese for "ink image") works offers an insight into the into a world shaped by a particular vision of the world that European and European and Asian cultures.
